Specialized Trauma Therapy and EMDR

Trauma therapy comes in many different forms. The form of trauma therapy offered at Marathon Mental Health Services is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. EMDR is a widely researched therapy that has proven to be effective in helping people who have experienced multiple and ongoing traumas, as well as single incident trauma. This form of therapy requires a lot of work during and in-between sessions, and we work together to ensure that you are well prepared to embark on the healing journey through EMDR therapy. We use a checklist and various assessments to ensure that you have the right supports, coping mechanisms, resources, and skills to support your movement through the pain of trauma. These assessments may include measuring for dissociation, PTSD, and complex trauma.

In the province of PEI (Prince Edward Island, Canada), we offer sessions in-person for EMDR and trauma therapy, but this form of therapy can be just as effective when conducted in an online or virtual setting. We offer EMDR therapy online and virtually to clients throughout Canada, as well as in PEI and Ontario.

EMDR therapy is not suitable for everybody, and in cases such as these there are other forms of therapy that could be beneficial. The first step is to reach out. Together, we can chart a path for your forward movement.
