About Me

I'm Chandni (pronounced Chan-duh-nee). I have a Master of Arts, Counselling Psychology (MACP), I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and I am a registered Counselling Therapist (CT) with the College of Counselling Therapy PEI (CCTPEI). I am also a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Before stepping into the field of mental health, I had a long and successful career in corporate business. After encountering burn out a few times, I decided to pursue a career in psychotherapy and counselling therapy to support the betterment of others, to feel fulfilled in the process, and to contribute to a legacy of healing for the various communities that I am a part of.

My philosophy in psychotherapy is that the work we do together should lead the client to some greater understanding of their mind, and how to positively effect change in their life. Support, validation, and care are an integral part of this process, but that is not all. In working together, we will create a space for you, the client, to recognize, challenge, and recreate thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors that are no longer useful, or causing dysfunction in your life.

Are you running from your past? Is your pace set by seemingly uncontrollable thoughts, emotions, or behaviours? Are you trying to find direction?

Let’s talk and get you closer to the finish line of your design.

I believe that the person is the expert of their own lives, so I utilize a person-centered approach to therapy. This means that you hold the answers, and it takes intentional conversation to unearth those answers.

I am an EMDR trained therapist and find this modality to be incredibly beneficial for a wide range of mental health concerns and wellness goals, especially when it comes to the treatment of trauma, complex trauma, and PTSD. I am also trained in Level 1 of the Gottman Method, which is a highly researched couples counselling method. Although my foundation as a Registered Psychotherapist and Counselling Therapist is person-centered, I have found evidence-based modalities highly useful in my work. Modalities such as EMDR, CBT, and the Gottman Method help clients measure and identify their progress in their therapeutic journey, which lends to a sense of accomplishment and self-efficacy. Other modalities and interventions that I utilize in my therapy practice include:

  • EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing)

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

  • Solutions focused brief therapy

  • Motivational interviewing

  • Narrative therapy

  • Gestalt

  • Gottman Method
